The Sabrina Bean Story~ In her own words….
As I hit the huge milestone of losing 50lbs, I can’t help and think about how this all came about. I started my journey with Chix in Training on Thanksgiving Day 2011. I decided that it was time to take control of my life. With the help and encouragement of Tish and Rebekah and my fellow Chix, I began changing my life one step at a time.
At the beginning of each week, Tish and Rebekah shared scripture and talked about God’s Word, and continued sharing it as the week went on. I found that that was where my true hunger was. I wanted and needed to hear the truth. After 6 months of hearing the Word, I accepted Jesus and was baptized in April 2012. That is when my fitness journey really took off. I began to change my thoughts and lean on God’s Word, the rest just started to fall into place.
Although I had completed two half marathons before I joined Chix in Training, I really got into the love of running, in the spring of 2012, when we did a Run Chix Run Camp. I have now completed countless 5ks and 10ks, 7 half marathons, and with the help of Chix in Training I just completed my first full marathon in October 2015. I look forward to completing another full in the near future.
My journey has had its ups and downs, but I have never felt alone. Before I started Chix, I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety, felt worthless and turned to food for comfort, because I felt like no one cared about me or wanted me to succeed. I had no self-esteem. I was always with people, but felt like I was living my life alone and isolated. I doubted the fact that I even wanted to live. I was in a super dark place and the food seemed always be there and made me “happy.” The amazing support of my Chix family has just been outstanding. When you set a goal there is no doubt, only words of encouragement and whatever it takes to help you achieve your goals. They want you to succeed in all areas of your life. Joining Chix in Training was the best choice I have ever made. The past 4 years have been truly amazing and life changing. Chix has helped me transform my mind, body, and spirit. I have replaced my negative thoughts with Godly thoughts, I am no longer bound by depression and anxiety. What a blessing it is to be part of such an amazing group of Godly women.
