Disciplined Training

August 30, 2010

I Corinthians 9:25-27 which reminds us to exercise self control in disciplined training in all things. We’ve been covering some of the characteristics of what “teammates” or fellow laborers have; helpers of your joy, praying for one  another, contending together! Paul tells us in verse 27 that he makes his body do what it should not what it wants- so that he, Paul should not be asked to stand aside. WOW! Do it Chix!

Helpers of your Joy

August 17, 2010

Paul is writing again to the church to encourage in their faith…He says in 2 Cor 1:24 “Not that we have dominion over your faith but are helpers of your joy, for by faith ye stand.”  That helpers is Sunergos- fellow laborer, or coworker.  He wants them to stand on their own faith….not his or anyone else’s and all the while being a fellow laborer in the work of sharing the Good News.

We are all called to be fellow laborers in the work of sharing the Good News. We can start right where we are, in any catagory of life. It begins with a heart to love others. We can come along side others and be a helper of their joy wherever they might have a need. In the fitness category, all of the Chix have been fellow laborers in logging miles!  With a loving heart, you can help your team achieve victory!!

Contending Together Athletically

August 9, 2010

Philippians 4:3-5 (NLT) And I ask you, my true teammates, to help these women, for they worked side by side with me telling the Good News…..And be full of joy in the Lord; I say it again, rejoice! Let everyone see that you are unselfish and considerate in all you do.

Sunathleo is Greek meaning to contend together athletically; Paul is asking that his fellow laborers in the Word or teammates to come along side the women mentioned in the previous verse and encourage them to stop fighting and unite for the same purpose, as they had before. By contending together, we support and encourage one another to accomplish great things! God wants us to encourage each other with the Word and support one another in our endeavors. Tish and  I are excited to do just that and look forward to watching you and your team sunathleo!

Bring your weighted ball, mats and gloves on Wednesday. Keep track of your miles walked, ran or biked!!

Proverbs 25:13 “As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that sent him; for he refresheth the soul of his masters.”  That refresheth is the bringing back, restoring to the essence of who you are. There are times in all of our lives when we need a little refreshing. It all depends on what stage or season of life you are in. Been taking it too easy? Refreshing may mean vacation is over and you need to hit it hard again. Been hitting it too hard? Rest. What will do it for you? What do you need?  If we take the time to refresh ourselves, we’ll be in the position to recognize and share a timely word or help bring someone else back! God wants us to be a faithful messenger of the Word!

See you Wednesday morning in VG for Wednesday weigh ins and final assessments.

You are blessed to be a blessing!

July 20, 2010

I think we can all agree that it’s difficult to be a blessing when we don’t feel blessed ourselves. When we find ourselves in that situation, we must drive our minds to focus those things we do have, or that which we have accomplished. Our emotions can mislead us at times and we lose sight of the truth.  Proverbs 28:20 “A faithful man shall abound with blessings but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.” God tells us in this verse that when we are faithful we will abound with blessings. Faithfulness can be seen in our hard work in whatever category we are striving in. It will produce fruit eventually as we walk with confidence that the Word is the Truth. No shortcuts will produce the long term outcome that we desire. God wants us to be blessed to bless us so we can bless others!

We will be meeting at Richman Park Wednesday morning for Yoga. Bring your mats and a towel. Check the website Wednesday morning for any changes due to weather.
