My quest for fitness and weight loss started in January 2008 during the Tuscola’s Biggest Loser Competition. I was very reluctant to sign up and asked a friend to join me. She declined, so I decided to go at it alone after some constant persuasion from my youngest daughter. Prior to signing up I would try to monitor my food intake and used walking as my primary means of exercise. During the competition I participated in Rebekah’s kickboxing classes held in Tuscola and Villa Grove. The first few classes I could barely keep up and it was hard to complete the hour long sessions. Each week it became easier and I found myself looking forward to workouts because of the results I was seeing.
After the biggest loser competition was over, Tish and Rebekah started boot camp. I have signed up for every session of boot camp since the beginning and have recommended it to all of my friends.
It is now July of 2009 and I have lost a total of 38 pounds. But more than the weight loss, I have toned up, increased my endurance, and improved my self-esteem. I feel much healthier and stronger than I ever have. In April of 2009 I completed my first ½ marathon. This surprised me because I never considered myself a runner!
I cannot thank Rebekah, Tish, and my fellow bootcampers enough for all the support they have given me. There is nothing better than working out with a bunch of other women and supporting each other along the way. My youngest daughter who motivated me into signing up for the Biggest Loser is now coming with me to boot camp after recognizing how much fun I was having meeting my fitness objectives. “Exercise is like brushing my teeth, its part of my daily routine.” I am now looking forward to challenging myself and accomplishing more goals that I never thought were possible.
